Basic Blogging for Real Estate Agents

Basic Blogging for Real Estate Agents!

By Emily Dugal

So you want to start a blog. You’ve been looking for some ways to improve your website and you think a blog might be the way. But where do you start? What do you write about? Well don’t worry we’ve got you covered with some Basic Blogging for Real Estate tips!

How to Come Up with Blog Content

The first question is what are you going to write about? Agents are constantly telling me that they have no idea what they would write about. What you have to realize is you can write about the same things you talk about every day. Let’s say you are meeting with new clients who have never bought a home before and know nothing about what the home buying process will look like. Use what you discussed with them to write a blog post with “5 Things Every New Home Buyer Should Know”. Perhaps you want to talk about the importance of staging a home for photos and open houses. Or you could use your blog to highlight a new listing in a unique way in a by going farther than just the MLS description.

Where To Post Your Blog

As RE/MAX agents you have access to a free Placester site which allows you to easily post a blog post. I’ve attached a link to the Placester website that explains how to post on your blog. Click here to read it! If you have a WordPress site (which I find very blog friendly) you can easily log in and write your blog or copy/paste it into the dialogue box, hit publish, and you are good to go!

Consistency When Blogging

Decide how many times a week or month you are going to post and stick with it! If you are going to publish a blog post once a month choose which day of the month like the first or last day every month. Maybe you decide to do a once a week blog, choose a day that the blog will go out and put it out on that same day every week. Your blog has to be dependable.

Sharing Your Blog to Social Media

Once you’ve gotten your blog published on your website, it’s time to start getting it out to other channels to help drive traffic to your blog and website. Post it on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. You will be able to get a higher reach by “boosting” your social media posts so they get a higher reach. A few bucks on a Facebook post for a few days can really help you reach a wider audience.

So there you have it. Basic Blogging for Real Estate Agents. Start off with these few basic tips and you’ll be able to expand and grow you blog into something you’ll be proud to show off!
