Mug Monday Episode 14: Posting Personal Content

Good Morning Everyone! Welcome to Mug Monday! I’m Emily Dugal, Digital Marketing Manager at RE/MAX Leading Edge! If you’ve seen Mug Monday welcome back and if it’s your first time I’m excited to share my myriad of mugs and tips with you! This weeks mug is my Half Marathon Mug!

And this weeks mug ties into what I'm going to be talking about this week which is how to show off your personality and interests without making your life an open book. I have agents that express concern with having to share to much of their personal life in order to get people to know, like and trust them but there are ways to do it without becoming the Kardashians.

Family and Friends

I have agents who never post pictures of themselves with people outside the industry. I have other agents who do choose to share more of that side of their life with clients. They post pictures at their kids sporting events or on a trip they’ve taken. You aren’t obligated to share your personal life or family or friends but a few ways you can still show a more personal side of your life is by posting a pic of yourself at a networking event with some colleagues in a social setting. Maybe you grab dinner with a friend whose an agent in your office. Even a picture of your pet (I know to you he’s the most recognizable face but I promise you no one is gonna spot Fido across the street if the dog walker has him). This will allow people to see a more relax and sociable side of you.

Hobbies and Sports

Are you a golfer? Do you enjoy painting in your spare time? Maybe you recently ran a half marathon! Wink wink! Sharing some info or a pic of you enjoying a hobby you enjoy is a great way to give yourself more depth on social media. This can help you find common ground with people and you can provide some value to your clients. IF you’re a runner, post a list of upcoming 5Ks, golfers can post a list of courses in the area.

Charities

If you are actively involved in charities, it’s a great non-real estate thing to post on social media. Not only does it bring awareness to a charitable cause (which is always good) it also showcases something your passionate about. Maybe a cause you're invested in is raising money, or hosting an event. Let people know about it. Use your Facebook business page to make the world a better place and give backIts up to you, how much you disclose about how or why you are involved with the cause!

Some people love to really showcase their friends, family, pets, and passions to people both in and out of the real estate community on both their personal and professional pages, and that’s great but for some they want to keep their private life, private. Use these tips to showcase your personality a bit without feeling like The Kardashians!
