How To Get Client Testimonials

Use These Tips To Gather Client Testimonials

Emily Dugal Discusses How Real Estate Agents Can Get Client TestimonialsBy Emily Dugal, Digital Marketing Manager, RE/MAX Leading Edge

The internet is wealth of information and that information includes reviews and client testimonials. Here are some stats on online reviews…

Client Testimonials By the Numbers

80% of people trust reviews as much as personal recommendations

74% of consumers say that positive reviews make them trust a local business more

7 out of 10 consumers will leave a review for a business if they’re asked

So how do you get testimonials? Well just like the stats say… you ask! In order to help guide clients and make it easier for them to write a review that is really going to help your business, give them questions to use as an outline. This will help them from giving you a lack luster or generic responses. The easier you make it for them the more likely they are to do it.

Questions To Ask

So here are a few questions that I’ve picked up from Inman, Placester and some other articles across the internet on great questions to ask for client reviews.

  1. Why did you choose me as your real estate agent?
  2. What were your goals or concerns while selling or buying your home?
  3. How did I help you achieve your goals or overcome your concerns?
  4. What results did you achieve by working with me?
  5. Why did you hire me to represent you?
  6. What did I do best?

Let them know you may make slight edits or changes to clarify a situation they are referring to or for brevity. Also, be sure to proofread your clients testimonials for spelling and grammar errors before posting them anywhere. When using a name to credit the testimonial it’s best to use first name, last initial to protect the privacy of the source.

Importance and Placement of Client Testimonials

Client testimonials are a very powerful marketing tool. Ask your clients to post Zillow, Realtor.com, RealSatisfied, etc. Use the testimonials on your website and share them on social media. You can also feature them in your listing presentation or on a postcard or marketing piece.

As the saying goes… ask and you shall receive… usually. So as you wrap up transactions add “Ask Client For Review” to  your list of To Do’s!
