Reading and Understanding Facebook Post Analytics

Reading and Understanding Facebook Post Analytics

By Emily Dugal, Digital Marketing Manager, RE/MAX Leading Edge

So you’ve put a post out on your business page. You’ve carefully crafted it. You made sure to have the marketing coordinator put together the perfect graphic. You’ve invested some money to boost it. Now what?

How do you know how well your post is doing? And what are all those numbers below your post? I've put together this quick blog on reading and understanding Facebook post analytics.

Firstly, lets take a look at those numbers along the bottom of your post.

The number right above the orange bar indicates how many people you've reached with your post. People reached on a post is the number of people who saw that specific post. If you hover over the orange bar it will tell you how much of your reach was organic (reaches you got without boosting) and paid reaches (reaches that came from the money you spent on a boost).

Engagement, Engagement, Engagement

Now reach is important but engagement is even more important! Sure, you want a lot of people to see your post but if they aren't interacting and engaging with you then you are losing their attention.

Below the like, comment and share buttons you see the icons for like button (the blue thumbs up), the love button (the heart) and the wow icon (the face). Next to those icons there will be a name or two displayed and a number. That is the number of people who have reacted (like, love, laugh, wow, sad and mad) to your post.

The number of shares indicates how many poeple shared the post to their personal page or their business page.

And lastly we have the comments. The comments are messages people have left on the post. In order to continue the interaction I suggest you like all of the comments people write on your post and respond if possible.
