Mug Monday Episode 13: Community Based Content

Good Morning Everyone! Welcome to Mug Monday! I’m Emily Dugal, Digital Marketing Manager at RE/MAX Leading Edge! If you’ve seen Mug Monday welcome back and if it’s your first time I’m excited to share my myriad of mugs and tips with you! This weeks mug is my Alice in Wonderland Mug!

Today I’m going to talk about the value of community based content. Many agents think when they create content it has to be all about real estate and the process of buying and selling a home but that is simply not true. Real estate agents tend to be some of the most knowledgeable people in the community from everything to community happenings to the best restaurants to when you’re supposed to sign your kid up for soccer real estate agetns are a wealth of info in their communities. Use that to your advantage and create content!

Public Information

When I lived in Somerville I had never heard of winter parking ban because I had never lived anywhere without a driveway. And I always forgot what side of the road I was supposed to park on.Posting on your social media in either a graphic, infographic or video form provides people with important information that could help save them time and money. Don’t know this information? In the words of Linda O’ #GTS! Google that Sh*t! Save your audience and the people in your community the time and get yourself out there by sharing this information first

Restaurants, Nightlife and Entertainment

Posting about the best bars, restaurants and entertainment venues in your area is a great way to provide value to your clients and sphere of influence. Tell them where to get the best burger they’ve ever had. Where to go for the best beers on tap! These are recommendations I hear you guys giving out all the time! Don’t wait to be asked create a quick video about your favorite date night spot and you’ll soon known as the realtor with the 411 on all the hottest spots in town!

Feeling Festive

As the seasons change what’s going on in town changes. The spring brings farmers markets, the summer brings fireworks and the holidays bring baked goods and Christmas trees. Creating posts and videos with this information gives you consistent content to post throughout the year. I live in Melrose and I had no idea the town picked up Christmas trees! No clue. So last year my roommate and I were at a loss as to where to take our Christmas tree. Come to find out the town of Melrose picks up Christmas trees! Providing information on things people didn’t even realize were going on and helping them get more involved in the community is so valuable.
