Mug Monday, Episode 3: Content Calendar and Scheduling

Good Morning Everyone! Happy Monday! Welcome to Mug Monday! I’m Emily Dugal, Digital Marketing Manager at RE/MAX Leading Edge! If you’ve seen Mug Monday welcome back and if it’s your first time I’m excited to share my myriad of mugs and tips with you! This week’s mug is "Good Morning Gorgeous."

Today we will be discussing a content calendar and scheduling posts! Last week we discussed blog content and I talked about consistency when releasing blog content! This week I'll be talking about using a content calendar to plan out not only your blog but other types of content.

Use a Content Calendar

Use a monthly content calendar to lay out your content for the whole month.  I use an excel document that has tabs for each month. At the beginning of the year I marked all the major holidays/events for the year so I have them marked and ready to go. Then I work on that month’s sheet. If my blog goes out every Thursday I mark that every Thursday. If you have a closing on the 5th and plan to snap a pic with your happy clients mark that on the appropriate day.

Scheduling Content

I know what you’re thinking “So I’m planning out a months worth of activity and now I have to sit down every day and post?! Wow that sounds like a lot of time everyday!” Well yes and no. Facebook has a magical thing called Facebook Scheduling where you can actually schedule when you’d like a post to go out! Perhaps your blog goes out on Thursday but it’s written and ready to go on Sunday Night. You don’t have to wait till Thursday to post your blog. Simply go to your Facebook page and choose the down arrow next to the word publish. You’ll see the option “Schedule”. Put in when you’d like the post to publish and it’ll go out when the time comes!

 Don't Overplan

As the saying goes “Life is what happens when you’re busy making plans.” You’re a human and you want to use social media to show off your personality and get people to know who you are and you can’t do that if you plan every little thing and only post what you’ve planned. Fun and interesting things will come up so have a plan but stay flexible and fun with it.

And that my friends is how you can simplify and organize your social media so that you can create consistency when it comes to your content! Feel free to reach out to me with any questions you have and let me know what works for you when it comes to scheduling and planning your content!
